Worldwide, the WSET Diploma is considered a wine & spirits leading qualification and is the flagship of WSET. The Diploma is universally viewed as a stepping-stone to the MW program. WSET Diploma is strongly recommended by the IMW Institute in case someone would like to further proceed and apply for the Master of Wine Studies.
Students attending the intensive mode of study for WSET DIPLOMA will gain the opportunity to complete the WSET Diploma within 10 months and also to get acquainted with the most exotic wine producing area of the world which is the SANTORINI island with its complex, volcanic soil.
All classes are delivered by highly qualified educators – subject matter experts, many of whom are MW’s. In Greece, WSET Diploma is managed and supervised by Konstantinos Lazarakis MW, a world – wide well respected Master of Wine.
Santorini is unique and one of the most historical wine producing areas in the world, one of the few that remains until today phylloxera free. Students will have the chance to elaborate to Assyrtico grape variety via master-classes and field presentations from the leading wine producers of Assyrtico in Santorini.
The WSET Diploma has a minimum requirement of 600 hours study time (students therefore should be prepared to dedicate substantial amounts of study time to successfully complete this course), including approximately in Greece 150 hours classroom (almost 40% higher class time than other countries). In Greece we have 99% success rates in passing the blind tasting examinations across all units. An excellent range, including many premium wines, personally selected by Konstantinos Lazarakis MW, will be shown/ tasted.
