Following the earthquake that struck the island of Kos, Mr. Yiannis A. Retsos, President of the BoD of the Greek Tourism Confederation made the following statement: “We express our deepest sympathies and support for those affected by the earthquake on the island of Kos. We are reassured by the speed and efficiency with which the system has operated in safeguarding that visitors are able to continue their stay with as little disruption as possible under the circumstances. We are also encouraged by the efforts being made for transport to and from the island to be minimally disrupted, with the island’s airport already operating normally. It is important to note that the impact of the earthquake is localized and should not concern visitors who have planned holidays to Greece”.
