Alexandros Thanos
Alexandros Thanos has served as Executive Director of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) since 2023, bringing extensive experience in tourism, public administration and development planning.
From 2011 to 2023, he held positions of responsibility in the Region of Central Macedonia, focusing on development, European programmes, tourism and culture. From 2022 to June 2023, he served as Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism, gaining significant experience in the planning and promotion of tourism development initiatives and in cooperation with institutional stakeholders.
He is a graduate of the Department of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology, a diploma from the University of Macedonia in Business Administration, as well as an MBA in Business Administration from Kingston University, specializing in Strategic Corporate Development.
Maria Gatsou
Maria Gatsou has extensive experience in strategy, communications, and the management of complex issues and crises. Throughout her career, she has focused on designing and implementing strategic communication plans, building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, and identifying practical solutions through dialogue and collaboration.
From 2005, she worked at V+O Communication, gaining experience across a range of sectors, including tourism, aviation, shipping, real estate, and retail.
In 2018, she joined SETE as Director of Communication and, since September 2020, has served as General Manager of the Confederation.
Alongside her professional role, she is a Board Member and inspirational mentor at JA Greece – Junior Achievement Greece, a non-profit organization, and a mentor for Eurobank’s egg – enter•grow•go programme and ExcellenSeas – Seas of Excellence, supporting young people and aspiring entrepreneurs in developing their ideas and potential. She believes in the value of sharing knowledge and experience and in the power of collaboration among people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
She holds a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing Management, from Deree College, The American College of Greece, and a master’s degree in Tourism Marketing from the University of Surrey, with a particular focus on crisis management.
George Amvrazis
In 2015, George was appointed General Manager of SETE (Greek Tourism Confederation), and since September 2020, he has served as Advisor to the President.
From 2007, he served as General Manager of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation (HHF) and, concurrently, from 2013 to 2018, as Administrative Director of INSETE. He has served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Manpower Employment Organization and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Archaeological Resources Fund. Among other roles, he serves on the Boards of Directors of the Public Employment Service, the Organization for Mediation and Arbitration, and the Special Account for Vocational Training. He is also a member of the Social Partners Council of DYPA, the Council for Occupational Health and Safety of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Vice President of the Hellenic Institute for Occupational Health and Safety, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Economic and Social Council of Greece.
He holds a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the School of Law, Economics and Political Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has extensive experience in executive management positions at multinational companies and business groups in the commerce and tourism sectors.
Kalliopi Andriopoulou
She began her collaboration with SETE in May 2016. Kalliopi Andriopoulou began her career in 1990 at Pouliadis Associates Corporation, an Information Technology Company, and continued in 1996 as a Media & Communications Representative for publishing company MOTOTECH SA,. Since 2009, she had worked as a Public Relations Director at the City of Athens Development & Destination Management Agency, which supports tourism through the Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau-ACVB, the city’s official Destination Management Organization, and also Business and Social Entrepreneurship. She holds a Certificate in Public Relations and Communication from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a postgraduate diploma in Public Relations from the Athens Graduate School of Management – City College, London.
Elizabeth Vlachou
Elisabeth Vlahou started working with SETE in March 1998 She started her career as assistant F & B Manager at the Cavo D’oro Hotel (1996) an she has also worked as secretary at the International Cargo Gear Bureau (1997). In the period 1994 -1996, she studied at the Business College of Athens (BCA), Department of Hotel and Tourism Enterprises. At the same time, she obtained a Hospitality Management Diploma from the American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA). She speaks very good English (Proficiency diploma, 1997), and has a good command of French.
Eleni Glava
Eleni has been working with the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) since April 2002, bringing extensive experience in secretarial and administrative support and contributing to the effective operation of the organization and the support of its management.
Her professional approach is based on systematic organization, the responsible handling of matters and information, and effective communication, with a consistent focus on reliability, confidentiality, and the smooth execution of tasks.
She began her career at ASPECT HELLAS, a business consulting firm, and INFORMATION RESOURCES HELLAS (IRI), a market research company. She subsequently spent seven years at OLYMPIC AIRWAYS S.A., gaining experience in customer service and reservations management.
She pursued secretarial and administrative studies at the SELECTIKA Institute of Business Studies and the OAED Vocational Training Institute in Galatsi. She has a very good command of English and has completed her studies in the Italian language.
Anastasia Makou
Anastasia Makou is Corporate Communications Coordinator of SETE.
She has worked for almost 20 years in the Translation, Education and Communication sectors, in prominent Educational Institutions and Organizations, such as Metropolitan College, ICPS College of Humanities and OPAP. Her last position was at Generation Y, International e-Business Hub, as Marketing & Communications Manager.
He holds a BA in Translation/Interpreting from Manchester College of Arts and Technology and a postgraduate degree (MA) in Literary Translation from the University of East Anglia, with working languages of Greek, Czech, English and German.
Angeliki Papageorgiou
With many years of experience in the field of Conference and Event Management, Angeliki started her collaboration with SETE in August 2014. She has worked as a Junior Consultant at Value Delivery Consulting Company and as a Project Executive at the C&C International Conference Department and as Events Manager at Agro-Know Technologies. In parallel with her career, she obtained the title of Certified Systemic Analyst in Project Management from the University of Piraeus. She holds a Bachelor in History & Archeology at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and a MEd Educational Leadership, Policy & Development at the University of Bristol.
