The collapse of Thomas Cook is an issue that requires both quick and effective responses.
Τhe Greek State should immediately update the tourism industry on the Thomas Cook UK collapse situation and also on what exactly the case is with the other markets (Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia). At the same time, concrete measures should be planned and announced, as to how the problems that arise for tourism businesses as a result of the collapse will be absorbed.
On our part, the private segment needs to remain calm and offer assistance to the thousands of Thomas Cook tourists currently in the country. Our behavior and the treatment provided towards these people will shape the image of our country as a welcoming and responsible destination, on an international level.
Greek tourism has the depth and the quality to cope with this difficulty once more.
