Even while global restrictions have forced many to stand still, time marches onwards. The way we work, rest and socialise is not the same as it used to be, and neither is the way we perceive the world around us. The many shifts and changes accelerated by the pandemic have taken root around the world, as well as a greater sense of urgency about tackling today’s burning issues, not least the global climate crisis. And, while we can all agree that action has to be taken, it has to be well understood and properly coordinated if it’s to have any effect. That’s where comprehensive planning, and engagement with everyone involved is critical, and it’s where we can make a difference.
As global tourism gradually restarts, the tourism industry finds itself in a very different place; grappling with both historic and emerging challenges, perhaps this time with the benefit of some pandemic-induced introspection.
So how are we to put these lessons to good use, and ensure that good intentions actually bear fruit? We believe that the only way to come back better is to think, learn and plan ahead with humility and a clear head.
Could this be the moment that Greek tourism shifts from spontaneous growth to a more thoughtful, purpose-driven way of working? We think so. With its 2021 Conference, SETE is setting out to shape the agenda and enable change, towards a new mindset and the policies that will genuinely transform tourism in Greece.
We look forward to joining you there, and planning the way ahead, with you.
