The MSc in Tourism Management visited Floisvos Marine, the ultimate destination for yachts in Athens on the 17th of January. Students and graduates of the program had the opportunity to participate in a series of presentations realized by Mr Stavros Katsikadis, CEO of LAMDA Flisvos Marina. Mrs Chrisoula Panagiotopoulou (Quality and Safety Manager) and Mrs Despoina Psichari (Customer Service and Marketing Manager) on the strategic importance of marine development for the sea tourism in Greece. The presentations focused on various management issues of the marine including: HR, marketing, operations, sales, customer service, health and safety, CSR. This was a great opportunity to learn about the opportunities and challenges of marine management.
Mr Katsikadis made the following key points:
– The future of the greek economy is based on tourism, including sea tourism
– There is great space for development of initiatives that can help the strategic development of tourism in Greece in an organized manner
– Greece can offer high quality tourism services and safety that are key to the tourists
– Being an ALBA alumni, he explained that the ALBA degree helped him develop personally, acquire knowledge and skills and pursue a successful career in sea
tourism management.
