The third Regional Event of SETE for 2015 took place on Tuesday, 16 June 2015 at Thessaloniki in collaboration with the Region of Central Macedonia. The overall aim of the event was for SETE to get in touch with the tourism entrepreneurs that operate in this region and to present the final Strategic Marketing Plan of the Region of Central Macedonia.
The specific strategic plan, constitutes the first complete Marketing Plan of the tourism products of Central Macedonia. It also constitutes the basis for the strengthening and the development of SETE’s advising role not only for the collaboration with the local authorities, but also for the application of the national branding strategy in regional and local level.
The plan outlines all the steps that should be taken by each area separately and for each product offered, creating a detailed roadmap to 2020. More specifically, it analyzes the demand and supply data, the competitive destinations, the portfolio of tourism products that should be developed or strengthened, as well as the communication platform that will promote the destination internationally.
The event was addressed by the Deputy Minister of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction, Mrs. Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha, the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Giannis Boutaris.
The Board of the Confederation was represented by the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Andreas A. Andreadis, the A’ Vice Chairman, Mr. Yiannis A. Retsos, the Secretary General of SETE, Mr. George Vernicos and the Board Members, Mr. Konstantinos Alexopoulos, Mr. Aristotelis Thomopoulos and Mr. Andreas Stylianopoulos.
The Chairman of SETE’s Board of Directors, Mr. Andreas A. Andreadis, stated amongst others that: “We continue to actively support the Greek economy and the entrepreneurs in Greece. The Regional Office of Central Macedonia has already completed, as a strategic consultant of the Region, the local authorities, the local entrepreneurship and the tourism community, a comprehensive roadmap that will highlight and enhance the competitive advantages of the Region”.
The General Manager of Marketing Greece, Mr. Iossif Parsalis, presented the detailed action plan, stating that “The collaboration with the Region of Central Macedonia, the local authorities and the tourism community, has been so fruitful, that it has set the standards for future collaborations in Greece. Apart from the promotional activities that have been already implemented in a short period of time and the planned actions, the Marketing Plan that has been developed for the Region of Central Macedonia, constitutes the first Complete Plan of a Regional Tourism Product, that will become the basis for local consultation and finalization within the next period, whilst in collaboration with the state, we are aiming at the harmonization of the branding of the local communication”.
From his side, the General Manager of the Institute of SETE (INSETE), Mr. Ilias Kikilias, pointed out the importance of the Regional Offices of SETE and stated that: “with the Regional Office of Central Macedonia being fully active, with a series of educational programmes that have been already scheduled and with the data mining and data analysis of SETE Intelligence, SETE contributes to the further development of Central Macedonia, with an emphasis on quality”.
