John is a British lawyer who always wanted to be a journalist. After twenty years in a suit he took a leap in to the dark and became a Reporter and a Producer with the BBC in London. With an aviation background the BBC put him to work on the Transport and Travel programmes on the all important and all speech BBC Radio 4. Here he learned to perform miracles on no budget – a trick useful in the travel business – and garnered awards for programmes on every aspect of travel including safety and hijacking.

Moving to television John introduced the travel industry to the consumer programme ‘Watchdog’ for the BBC before becoming Editor of the long running (10 years)‘Travelog’ and ‘Voyage’ programmes for Channel 4 in the UK, aimed at the new independent traveller. He writes for many British national newspapers and magazines and was the Editor of the CNN world-wide travel show ‘Hotspots’.

Having been at the ‘sharp-end’ for over twenty years it’s not surprising that John was invited to be a consultant in crisis management to Tourist Boards, Governments, travel companies and airlines. He’s been directly concerned in 9/11, a military coup, the bombing and missile attacks in East Africa, Caribbean hurricanes and, of course, the tsunami. He is a member of the Crisis Committee of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.

John also lectures on tourism marketing, crisis management and the media at London Metropolitan University, the Universities of Sarajevo and Banja Luka, Bosnia - Herzegovina and has recently finished a lecture series on ‘Tourism and Terrorism’ at the Post-Graduate School of Tourism at Monash University, Melbourne where he is a Visiting Lecturer. He’s a well known media trainer for companies such as Shangri – La Hotels and Airbus.

John was formerly Head of his London Tourism Board; is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society; a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and past Chairman of the British Guild of Travel Writers

Luigi Cabrini, a national of Italy, born in 1952, holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Pisa and completed post-graduate courses in International Law, History and Economics in Rome. From 1978 until 1982, he worked as a languages teacher, journalist and editor in Rome. He began his career in the United Nations in 1982 as a Programme Officer at the United Nations Development Programme office in Guatemala City. From 1984 to 1995 he held several positions at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Mexico, Pakistan, Somalia and Geneva. He has been Representative of UNHCR in Poland (1995-1998) and Spain (1998-2002).

Since March 2002 he is the Regional Representative for Europe of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the United Nations Specialized Agency in the field of tourism, with its Headquarters in Madrid. The WTO serves as a global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how and statistics. In his function, Mr. Cabrini coordinates actions directed at assisting the efforts of Governments and National Tourism Administrations in Europe. He organizes seminars on topics of particular relevance to individual or groups of countries. He delivers presentations on tourism trends and other issues at conferences organised throughout Europe and undertakes activities aimed at supporting the tourism industry in the region. Other specific projects that Mr. Cabrini is presently coordinating are the Silk Road project and the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Tourism. He has been delegated by the Secretary-General to act as Secretary of the General Assembly and Executive Council of WTO.

Mr. Cabrini speaks fluently Italian, English, French, Spanish and has knowledge of Polish.

He is the author of several articles, speeches and papers.

A successful amateur career in golf led to ten years as a not so successful tournament professional on the European and African circuits during the 70’s.

A new career in Sports Management commenced in the 80’s at IMG in Cleveland Ohio, running the LPGA client division and worldwide recruiting, This was followed by three years in SE ASIA setting up IMG’s first office in the region as Managing Director for the region.

The second half of the 80’s saw a move back to Europe managing world-class cyclists Stephen Roach and Sean Kelly as well representing Jack Nicklaus Golf Design in Europe and the Irish Rugby Football Union as marketing consultant.

The 90’s were spent principally in Spain setting up a joint venture company ’Amen Corner’ with golfer Severiano Ballesteros to promote 25 PGA European Tour Events in Spain and manage Ballesteros. Amen Corner jointly staged the 1997 Ryder Cup in Andalucia.
During that period:
o Prepared strategic plan for Turespana, Spain’s National Tourist Board, for the development and promotion of the golf tourism product in Spain.
o Commissioned by Turespana, to do a study on relevance of the sector “Golf Tourism in Spain”.
o Commissioned by Task Force for “Taoiseacht's” office (Prime Minister) of Ireland to write paper on “How to increase Golf Tourism in Ireland”.

The late 90’s and new millennium saw a move to Barbados in the Caribbean to consult on the spectacular $ 400 million Sandy Lane Golf Resort and in 1998 investing in and building the Barbados Golf Club, Barbados’s first public championship golf course, in cooperation with the Government and local shareholders.
During that period:
o Wrote the Five Year Plan for the development of Golf Tourism in Barbados

2002 saw a return to IMG in the USA to set up a new Tourism Division within IMG Consulting, IMG Tourism:

Mr. Christie consults on tourism and enterprise development for strategic growth and economic diversification for both public and private sector groups. He is also Senior Research Associate and Lecturer at George Washington University, Washington, D.C.  Prior to 1999, Mr. Christie was a manager and adviser at the World Bank. His interests lie in the economics and planning of tourism and direct support for investment in tourism. He led preparation of the World Bank’s Africa private sector strategy in 1997, its framework paper “Tourism in Africa” in 2000 and regularly publishes on tourism issues.  Mr. Christie joined the World Bank in 1972 as a financial analyst and has covered tourism, infrastructure, finance and enterprise development. Mr. Christie has been a hotel manager (US and Europe), assistant professor at Michigan State and New York Universities and a management consultant in New York City. He graduated from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland, and has graduate degrees in economics and business from New York and Michigan State Universities, respectively. 

At the George Washington University School of Business in Washington, D.C., U.S.A., Dr. Hawkins is engaged in tourism and hospitality management education and conducts policy-related research. He was appointed as the Dwight D. Eisenhower Professor of Tourism Policy (an endowed chair) in 1994.
In 2003, he received the first United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Ulysses Prize for individual accomplishments in the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the area of tourism policy and strategic management. He coordinated the UNWTO Tourism Policy Forum focused on using tourism as a development assistance strategy, conducted at GW, October 18-20, 2004. He received the UNWTO Themis Foundation Science Fellow Award, in April, 2005 in Andorra.
He has extensive international consulting experience over the past 30 years for multilateral and bi lateral development assistance agencies, governments and the private sector, including investment promotion, strategic planning, policy development, and human resource development.

Mr. Köletavitoğlu, a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, born in the city of Malatya in 1951. He graduated from the Middle East Technical University (Ankara) as a City and Regional Planner in 1973 and received training at the International Finance Program (INSEAD, France), in 1989.

He started his professional life at the Ministry of Tourism, and proceeded to work at the Ministry of Communications on national transport planning, the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Cooperatives on rural planning, and at the municipalities of Ankara and Istanbul as urban transport planning consultant.

In 1980, he commenced at the private sector as a manager responsible for multimodal transport projects and tourism activities of the Transtürk Group-a leading conglomerate, and worked for the NET Group as a manager and decision-maker between 1982-1991. During this period, he became the Executive Vice President and CEO of Holding Inc., and Board Member of various companies including Netbank, Ataköy Touristic Investments, Pegasus Airlines, Netpark, Netyapı Construction, Merit Hotel Management, Net Duty Free Shopping etc.

In 1991, he joined the Yapı Kredi Bank Group -a leading financial group- as the CEO and Managing Director of Enternasyonal Inc.Co. During this post, he directed the efforts concerning the development of the Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet (Istanbul), Robinson Select Club Maris (Marmaris), Port Göcek and was heavily involved in the management of several other real estate development projects and the operation of Pegasus Airlines. In 1997, he founded Atlas Ltd.Co., that still functions as an independent consultancy company specialized on land development and project management services. Additional to his project development endeavours on the behalf of several owners, currently, Mr. Köletavitoğlu is managing the development of Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus and extention of exiting Four Seasons Hotel.

Mr. Köletavitoğlu held the Presidency position of the Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TYD) from 1999 until 2003 and presently, he is the President of the Advisory Council. He holds many memberships and founderships at various professional organizations including the Turkish-Greek Business Council, Air Transportation and Tourism Commission (ICC, Paris), The Economic and Social History Foundation of Turkey (Istanbul), Turkish Financial Administrators Foundation (İstanbul), Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV), Turkish Social Economic Political Research Foundation (TÜSES), Steering Group of OECD Project on International Air Transport, Foundation for the Preservation of Turkish Monuments and Environment, Turkish-German Dialog Group, Foundation of Istanbul 2023.

He was the Chairman of the Tourism Sector Board of the Union of Turkish Chambers and Exchange Markets (2000-2001) and the President of the Experts’ Committee on Tourism, Five-year Development Plan (2001-2005) of The State Planning Organization.

In 2001, He was awarded “the top Manager role in the Management Category” in Year’s Gold Man Contest by the readers of Para Magazine, a well-known financial magazine of Turkey.

Robert McDonald is a UK based writer and broadcaster specializing in Greek affairs.
He is the contributor to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s quarterly Country Report: Greece and to Kerkyra Publication’s Business File (Greece Special Survey Series).
Recent issues have included “Life’s a beach”, the Greek tourism industry, Survey No. 47, March 2003 and “Going for Gold?”, the economics to the 2004 Olympic Games, Survey No. 51, March 2004

David McMillan is CEO of the Paris-based International Hotel & Restaurant Association. Founded in 1946, the IH&RA is the only international trade association exclusively devoted to promoting and defending the interests of the hotel and restaurant industry worldwide. It is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to helping members achieve their business objectives on a global stage and is recognized as such by the United Nations. Members are made up of National Hotel & Restaurant Associations, International and National Hotel and Restaurant Chains as well as a select group of individual hotels and restaurants.

Prior to this, British-born McMillan had many years of international hotel and resort management & development experience in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada and the United States with Hilton Hotels, Hyatt International, InterContinental Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, several well renowned independent properties and most recently with the world renowned circus, Cirque du Soleil.

He was elected to three terms as Chairman of the Hotel Association of Canada, is a former Director of the Canadian Restaurant & Foodservice Association. He has received an Honourary doctorate from Hocking College, an Honourary membership in Cornell XX and the Distinguished Alumni Award of the Waldorf Astoria. David and his wife, Venice currently reside in Paris and their son Stuart with his wife live in Whistler, BC

Michael Rosenblatt is Vice President of Development for Europe, Africa and the Middle East at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Based at the company’s regional headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, he oversees the sourcing, evaluating and closing of hotel development transactions in the region, with a primary focus on Europe. This function incorporates the full range of development activities from franchise and management contract negotiation through individual asset and portfolio acquisitions.

Michael joined Starwood after spending 10 years with Marriott International, most recently as Vice President of Mixed Use Development, focusing on company investments in large mixed-use projects throughout the Americas. Other positions with Marriott International included Vice President, Development Planning and various roles within Marriott’s Feasibility department.

Prior to joining Marriott, Michael spent 4 years with HVS International, where he helped open HVS’ Miami office. Michael is a graduate of The Hotel School at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

Manisha Tank presents World Business Report on BBC World and the channel’s hourly business news bulletins. After graduating from Oxford University in 1997, where she studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Manisha interned at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She then freelanced for BBC South before becoming a producer at Reuters Television, specialists in financial news.

On a posting to New York in 1999, Manisha reported fast-moving markets live from the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange. After the thrills of Manhattan, she returned to London as Reuters Europe Markets reporter based at the London Stock Exchange.

Manisha joined the BBC as the London Stock Exchange reporter for news programmes in 2001, and went on to co-present news bulletins between London and New York. She also presents business news on the domestic network, BBC News 24, and has worked with BBC interactive teams hosting current affairs discussions.

Away from work Manisha loves to travel, particularly to Asia. She is active in the community, mentoring children from ethnic minorities. Manisha has also travelled abroad in the name of charity on an English teaching project in the Dominican Republic. She is a board member of ‘Asians in Media’, a British forum for young Asians working in the broadcast and print media. She also enjoys kickboxing and playing her cello

Ο Γεώργιος Αναστασόπουλος είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Επιχειρησιακής Στρατηγικής και Πολιτικής του Τμήματος Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών (από το 2003). Γεννήθηκε το 1967 στο Ναύπλιο Αργολίδος. Το 1991 αποφοίτησε από το Οικονομικό Τμήμα του Εθνικού Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Πραγματοποίησε τη διδακτορική του διατριβή στο University of Reading, Μ. Βρετανίας (Ph.D. 1997, με ειδίκευση στην ανταγωνιστικότητα και τις πολυεθνικές επιχειρήσεις) όπου διατέλεσε Επιστημονικός Συνεργάτης στο ίδιο Πανεπιστήμιο (1996-1997).

Το επιστημονικό και ερευνητικό του έργο εστιάζεται κυρίως σε θέματα παγκοσμιοποίησης των αγορών και αλλαγών του επιχειρηματικού περιβάλλοντος, ανταγωνιστικότητας των επιχειρήσεων και των χωρών ως συστημάτων, εξελισσόμενων επιχειρηματικών μοντέλων ανάπτυξης επιχειρήσεων, και στρατηγικών των πολυεθνικών και εθνικών επιχειρήσεων με τομείς ενδιαφέροντος τη βιομηχανία και τον τουρισμό.. Έχει δημοσιεύσει πρωτότυπα άρθρα σε διεθνή έγκριτα επιστημονικά περιοδικά και έχει παρουσιάσει το έργο του σε διεθνή συνέδρια στην Αμερική και στην Ευρώπη. Είναι Συντονιστής και ΣΕΠ στο Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Σπουδών Διοίκησης Τουριστικών Επιχειρήσεων του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου, και μέλος του Εργαστηρίου Ερευνών και Δορυφόρων Λογαριασμών Τουρισμού (ΕΡ.Ε.ΔΟ.ΛΟ.Τ.) του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Έχει διατελέσει Πρόεδρος της Επιτροπής Εμπειρογνωμόνων του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου Ανταγωνιστικότητας και Ανάπτυξης (ΕΣΑΑ, 2001-2004). Το βιογραφικό του έχει συμπεριληφθεί στη βιβλιογραφική λίστα αναφορών Who’s Who in the World (2006).

Ο Σταύρος Ανδρεάδης γεννήθηκε το 1946 στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Αποφοίτησε από τη Γερμανική Σχολή και από το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης με δίπλωμα πολιτικού μηχανικού. Συνέχισε με μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο Πολυτεχνείο του Δυτικού Βερολίνου.

Το 1973 άρχισε την ενεργό απασχόλησή του στο πλέγμα των οικογενειακών επιχειρήσεων που είχαν κύριο προσανατολισμό στον τουριστικό και τον κατασκευαστικό τομέα. Από το 1993 είναι Πρόεδρος των εταιρειών του ομίλου ΣΑΝΗ Α.Ε.

Ο Σταύρος Ανδρεάδης είναι Πρόεδρος της Πολιτιστικής Εταιρείας Επιχειρηματιών Β. Ελλάδας από την ίδρυση της το 1996.

Έχει διατελέσει, δε, Αντιπρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου Ελληνικών Τουριστικών Επιχειρήσεων (ΣΕΤΕ) από το 1993 μέχρι τον Απρίλιο του 2001, οπότε και εκλέχθηκε Πρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου. Είναι παντρεμένος με την αρχιτέκτονα Νίκη Μάνου και πατέρας ενός γιου.

Η Φάνη Πάλλη Πετραλιά γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα και είναι παντρεμένη με τον Νίκο Πάλλη. Έχει τέσσερα παιδιά: την Αλεξάνδρα, την Έλενα, την Ντόρα και τον Ιάκωβο.

Το 1985 εκλέγεται με λίστα Βουλευτής της Β΄ Αθηνών. Τον Ιούνιο του 1989 επανεξελέγη Βουλευτής της Β΄ Περιφέρειας Αθηνών, όπου ήρθε πρώτη σε σταυρούς προτίμησης και από τότε εκλέγεται συνεχώς Βουλευτής (εκλογές 1990, 1993, 1996, 2000 και 2004).

1985 – 1989: Πρόεδρος του τμήματος Γυναικών της Νέας Δημοκρατίας.
1985: Ίδρυσε την Παναθηναϊκή Οργάνωση Γυναικών, που απαρτίζεται από 200.000 γυναίκες-μέλη, της οποίας και διετέλεσε Πρόεδρος για πολλά χρόνια.
Από 11.4.1990 έως 7.8.1991 διετέλεσε Υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού αρμόδια για θέματα Αθλητισμού και Νέας Γενιάς.
Από 3.12.1992 έως 12.10.1993 διετέλεσε Υφυπουργός Υγείας, Πρόνοιας και Κοινωνικών Ασφαλίσεων.
Από 18.3.2004 έως 14.2.2006 διετέλεσε Αναπληρωτής Υπουργός Πολιτισμού.

ΤΙΜΗΤΙΚΕΣ ΔΙΑΚΡΙΣΕΙΣ
1992: Η Γαλλική Ακαδημία Αθλητισμού της απονείμει βραβείο για την προσφορά της στον Αθλητισμό, ενόψει της άριστης διοργάνωσης των 11ων Μεσογειακών Αγώνων, που αποτελεί τη μεγαλύτερη αθλητική εκδήλωση που έγινε στη χώρα μας.
Παράλληλα για τους ίδιους αγώνες η Φάνη Πάλλη Πετραλιά κέρδισε από τη διεθνή ομοσπονδία Συντακτών Αθλητικού Τύπου το βραβείο καλύτερης αθλητικής διοργάνωσης για το 1991.
Μάιος 2005: Βραβεύτηκε με το «Olympic Order», την ανώτατη τιμητική διάκριση της Διεθνούς Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής για την προσφορά της στο ολυμπιακό κίνημα.

ΣΥΓΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ ΕΡΓΟ

Έγραψε τα βιβλία «Μια σύγχρονη Γυναίκα, με μια Σύγχρονη Οικογένεια, σε μια Σύγχρονη Δημοκρατία» και «Η Άτεκνη Χώρα: Δημογραφική Εξέλιξη και Προοπτικές».

• Ο Βασίλης Πατσουράτης είναι αναπληρωτής καθηγητής στο Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών

• Έλαβε το Πτυχίο στα Οικονομικά από το Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (πρώην ΑΣΟΕΕ) το 1972, το Master στα Οικονομικά από το Πανεπιστήμιο του York στο Toronto, και το διδακτορικό του δίπλωμα στα Οικονομικά από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Γλασκόβης, το 1980.

• Υπήρξε μέλος πολλών επιτροπών σε θέματα αναμόρφωσης του φορολογικού συστήματος, αναπτυξιακών κινήτρων και αναδιάρθρωσης και εκσυγχρονισμού της Ελληνικής Βιομηχανίας.
Υπήρξε μέλος της γνωμοδοτικής επιτροπής του αναπτυξιακού νόμου 1262/82 και 1892/90.

• Ήταν προϊστάμενος των τμημάτων Δημοσιονομικών και Κλαδικής Βιομηχανικής Έρευνας στο Ίδρυμα Οικονομικών και Βιομηχανικών Ερευνών (ΙΟΒΕ) την περίοδο 1982-1998.

• Έχει δημοσιεύσεις σε ελληνικά περιοδικά και ξένα περιοδικά σε θέματα φορολογίας των επιχειρήσεων, των οικονομικών του δημόσιου τομέα, της φορολογίας για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος, σε βιομηχανικά θέματα κ.α.

• Έχει αναλάβει έναν αριθμό μελετών για λογαριασμό της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και έχει εργασθεί, ως σύμβουλος, για ξένες κυβερνήσεις (Αυστραλίας, Πορτογαλίας, Ουγγαρίας, Ν. Αφρικής, κ.α.).

At 39 years of age Stelios, who prefers to be called by his first name, is best known for creating easyJet PLC when he was 28. He is often credited as the pioneer who changed the European aviation scene for the benefit of millions of consumers. easyJet PLC was partially floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2000 but Stelios remains the largest single shareholder. A serial entrepreneur, Stelios has established more than 16 ventures, the first of which was Stelmar Shipping at the age of 25. In the Queen's Birthday Honours List in June 2006 it was announced that Stelios would receive a knighthood for services to entrepreneurship.
Stelios floated Stelmar Shipping on the NYSE in 2001 and in 2005 he sold it to OSG Shipping Group for approximately $1.3 Billion. Nowadays, acting through his private investment vehicle, the easyGroup, which owns the easy brand and licenses it to the various easy branded ventures, including the airline, Stelios sees himself more as the manager of the brand and less as a manager of one of the companies. He continues to extend the brand by creating new easy branded ventures in the areas of travel, leisure, telecoms and personal finance.
easyJet PLC which is Europe's largest low cost airline by revenues with a fleet of 100 jets and growing, carried 30 million passengers in 2005. Other easyGroup companies, which are detailed at the easyGroup portal www.easy.com, cover areas as diverse as Internet cafés, car hire, online price comparison, personal finance, cinema, buses, male toiletries, on line recruitment, pizza delivery, music downloads, mobile telephony, hotels, a cruise line and wrist watches!
Stelios was born in Greece on the 14th of February, 1967 , the middle child of Loucas and Nedi Haji-Ioannou. He was educated in Athens to High School level and in 1984 continued his education at the London School of Economics. He also graduated from the City University Business School with an MSC in Shipping Trade and Economics. Stelios has also been awarded a total of three honorary doctorates from Liverpool John Moores University, Cass Business School City University and the Cranfield University.
On the "giving something back" side, Stelios is interested in education for under-privileged students and sustainable development. In 1992 he founded CYMEPA, the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association. This is a non-profit making association of ship owners and Cyprus-based business people who believe in sustainable development. Stelios recently endowed this association with a further gift worth more than $600,000. In 2005 he made a pledge to both his alma mater, the London School of Economics and the City of London Cass Business School , worth £3m for the funding of 100 scholarships over 10 years in each establishment. The students will be known as the Stelios Scholars. In 2006 he sold his private art collection, which once filled the walls of the now sold Stelmar Shipping, for a total of 730,000 euros, the proceeds of which went to a Greek children's charity.
